Montgomery meet gives runners plenty of strong competition
St. James Area took part in the Tri-City Gerry Smith Invitational on Sept. 8 at the Montgomery Golf Course. The meet was the biggest by far with close to thirty teams competing from both large and small schools.

The St. James Area girls tennis team spent Saturday, Sept. 10 in high gear, defeating Belle Plaine 6-1 and posting 7-0 shutouts over Pipestone and Minneapolis Roosevelt. The only team point awarded to an opponent required a third set.

Wings United’s 4-2 home victory moves season record to 2-1
The St. James/Windom soccer cooperative returned to the win column with a 4-2 victory over Tri-City United on Sept. 10. Fredy Garcia scored two goals and a single goal each was credited to Manuel Tinguar and Carlos Perez.

Saints Football home opener demonstrates improvement in strong second half
A balanced offense and big plays on special teams were points of strength for St. James Area, fueling a second half surge in a 36-12 loss to Minnesota Valley Lutheran on Sept. 9. Gavin Firchau piled up return yardage for the Saints, scoring a 71-yard touchdown on a punt return and averaging over 20 yards a kickoff return.
