The Wheels Keep Going Around
Bus drivers are in demand. Every school district is searching for qualified drivers to get students to and from school and extracurricular events. Although driving the bus may not be for everybody, everybody holds memories of riding a school bus.
St. James FFA Chapter Gears up for Annual Corn Drive
Planning for the St. James FFA 2022 Corn Drive culminated with a date set for Monday, October 17th. FFA members will be appearing in fields during the day but there are additional ways to support the charity effort.

LaVonne Watson, 94, of St. James died at her home surrounded by her family on Monday, October 3, 2022.

Valerie Kay Fischer of Merrifield, formerly of South Branch, passed away October 2, 2022, surrounded by her family and friends at Heartland Senior Living in Truman. Services were at 11 a.m.
City gets an update on code enforcement
On Tuesday, Oct. 4 the St. James City Council held its meeting. The meeting started with City Manager Amanda Glass giving an update on the code enforcement. In the first 4 months Brandon Showalter has been the city’s Code Enforcer, there has been 352 violations of which 250 have been resolved with 102 pending. This year Showalter has inspected 417 units which is roughly 2/3 of the units in St. James.
St. James Athletic Hall of Fame
The 9th annual St. James Athletic Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be held this Saturday October 15, 2022. This year’s events will start at 4:00 p.m. with a social hour, with all activities being held at the St. James VFW. A catered meal will be served at 5:30 p.m., with the program beginning at 6:45. Tickets for the meal and program are $20, and can be reserved by emailing Jon Wilson jwilson@isd840.org, or contacting the St. James Activities Office at 3775602. The deadline is fast approaching, and a limited number of tickets will be available at the door.
