Afternoon Tourney Opener Sees St. James Area Lighting Up TMB From Long Distance
Weather-related layoffs failed to stunt the Saints shooting aces as they set a new team record of 19 three-pointers in the 91-65 victory over Tracy-Milroy-Balaton at the Windom Tournament on December 27th.

All Watonwan Sheriff’s Department cruisers will have AEDs
Needing an AED for a family member or oneself is never in a person’s plan when they are at home or traveling. Watonwan County Sheriff’s Department, with the help of Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust, now has an AED in every squad car in case the need arises.
Saints Wrestling Triangular Highlights
Match-by-match results from a wrestling triangular in Fairmont on December 20th revealed strengths for the Saints and areas that are developing. St. James Area battled Fairmont/Martin County West in the opening round and moved on to wrestle United South Central/Maple River in the next round.

Spreading Christmas Joy
Local churches had their Christmas Programs for the community leading up to the holiday. And one even went to the nursing and assisted living homes to spread Christmas joy to everyone in St.
Tough Start to Tourney Leads to 60-35 Setback for Saints Girls
St. James Area opened their tournament at New Richland on December 27th by facing Class AA 5th-ranked Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial, losing 60-35. A quick start by LCWM hinted at a tough night for the Saints who were unable to overcome a large halftime deficit.

Madelia Health Caregivers Give Back
Madelia, Minn. – The Employee Engagement Committee and caregivers at Madelia Health donated a combined $1,700 to two worthy local causes this holiday season. An $1,100 check was donated to Christmas for Children, a local program that provides food and gifts to Madelia- area families in need this holiday season. Jane Hanson and Pat Shaw, representatives from Trinity Lutheran Church, were happy to receive the check from several Madelia Health caregivers. In addition to the monetary donations, some of our caregivers also contributed by picking up Christmas for Children tags. They then purchased and wrapped gifts that will be delivered to children. This important local program is organized by the Madelia Ministerial Association.
Watonwan County Sheriff’s Department is offering snowmobile classes
Over the summer Watonwan County Sheriff’s Department offered an ATV class for kids to become licensed for ATVs. With it now being winter and the outdoor vehicle changing to snowmobiles, the department will be offering two snowmobile classes.

A Friend Like No Other
On December 30th a friend of mine turns 85 and it would be hard to be in a position to commemorate the occasion… and fail to do so. Many know him, and surely he’s befriended many others, but his friendships is certainly unique among many I have blessed with.
