Justice for Our Life Together
“He will faithfully bring forth justice.” Isaiah 42:3 On a recent Sunday, the passage from Isaiah 42 was read in worship. The passage repeatedly associated “justice” with the good leader (king) that God would send. Whether a king was just or unjust would make a big difference to a nation as well as surrounding nations. As a comparison, think of what referees bring to a football game. The referees and umpires use their authority to equally apply the rules so that the game can be played fairly or even played at all. They see that justice exists in the game so that the players can be protected, and the teams have an opportunity to play to the best of their abilities.
