Whether you are an optimist, pessimist, or perfectionist, it looks like spring has arrived. The moment couldn’t have come soon enough for the more-than-anxious players and coaches of spring sports.

Shout out to all students
On Friday morning, I was driving over by Dairy Queen when I saw a group of kids running. I do not know if they are on the track or cross-country team, either way they were out there together running. Kudos to those kids, if any one of them are reading this good for you all for taking your time when school is out to keep on your training.

Pitcher’s Duel Ends in Favor of Jaguars in Baseball Season Opener
St. James Area senior lefthander threw an excellent game in the season opener but the Saints fell 2-1 at Truman on Monday, April 10th. The Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Martin Luther/Truman squad scored in the 1st and 3rd innings as both runners used a base on balls to get on the base-paths.
Two Days, Two Wins for Saints Over Huskies
The softball season opened with a home and away series against Jackson County Central and the Saints backed up a 6-1 win on the 10th with a 3-1 decision on March 11th. Addie Bowers would pitch a complete game, propelling SJA to a 2-0 start with eight strikeouts, five hits, and one base on balls.

Softball Gets Lift From Bowers Return to Beat JCC
After a long wait, St. James softball commenced their 2023 season and welcomed Addie Bowers back to competition for her senior year. Sidelined by a back injury for both volleyball and basketball, Bowers returned in a big way with a complete game pitching win and a dinger for the game winning run batted in.
