Shaking
“At that time his voice shook the earth, but now he has promised, “Yet once more I will shake not only the earth but also the heavens.” This phrase, “Yet once more,” indicates the removal of things that are shaken— that is, things that have been made—in order that the things that cannot be shaken may remain. Therefore let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe, for our God is a consuming fire. (Hebrews 12:26-29 ESV) This is a longer quote than I normally use but it is an important quote because we live in a time of shaking. Here God tells us why He shakes things. “…in order that the things that cannot be shaken may remain.” It is in times of shaking that we learn what is solid and what is not solid. Most of the institutions that we rely on are shaking. Our Financial institutions are shaking. Our Federal and State governments are shaking. Our Educational institutions are shaking. Even many Religious institutions are shaking. Sure, there could be argument as to how severe that shaking is but there seems to be a common perception of shaking. That means that these things will not remain.
