Quad yields pair of wins for St. James-Madelia
Another trip to Madelia ended with a pair of wins on January 7th for the St. James-Madelia wrestling team, beating Medford 49-24 and Springfield 72-6. The match with returning state-qualifier LeSueur-Henderson ended 44-30 in favor of the Giants.

Swanson breaks assist record
During the January 7th game against Pipestone, Jacey Swanson, a junior guard tor the St. James Area, broke the all-time assist record set by Lisa Olson in 1996. The former record stood at 508 and Swanson entered the contest needing just two assists to set the new mark.
Saints prove worthy against Mavericks
Beating an opponent multiple times can be harder than it sounds but St. James Area proved up to the task with a 72-63 victory at Sherburn on January 6th against Martin County West. Also the second road victory, SJA beat MCW at the Windom Tournament on December 28th, Brennan Kern and Wyatt Haler were a powerful scoring duo for the Saints.

Arrows fly straight through Saints
St. James hosted another Big South Conference basketball doubleheader on January 7th with Pipestone carrying both contests, 66-50 in the girls game and 72-49 in the boys game.

Eagles fly through doubleheader with Saints
St. James Area entertained the Windom Eagles on January 3rd and the visitors took both ends of the doubleheader, winning the girls game 83-62 before closing with an 82-64 victory over the boys. Results showed both SJA teams with a trio of double figure scorers in the Big South Conference showdown.

Gymnasts leap to new season high
The St. James Area gymnastics team continues to improve, both individually and as a team, reaching a season-best score of 110.875 during their January 7th meet at home versus Windom. The Saints success included the winning team score on the Floor event.

History is made at Belle of the Border Tournament
St. James High Schoolâs Event Center was full of wrestling teams and fans for the Belle of the Border girls wrestling tourney on January 4th. Two dozen teams from both Iowa and Minnesota, totaling 250 wrestlers, competing for trophies and medals.
