Bill prohibiting boys from playing in girls sports
A plan that would prevent boys in Minnesota from playing in girls’ sports received a full House floor debate this week. State Representative Marj Fogelman (R-Fulda) voted yes on the bill.

Narrow misses wrap up Tande’s trip to state
Senior Talyn Tande saw his wrestling career come to a close as an entrant at the 2025 Minnesota State High School League State Wrestling Championships February 28th and March 1st. The senior, holding the Section 3A Individual Championship at 145 pounds ran out of time in a pair of one-point losses.

St. James – Madelia youth wrestling hosts tournament
An eight-team tournament was hosted by Cyclones Youth Wrestling on February 23rd for K-6 squads. The Cyclones finished 2nd overall and had five wrestlers go undefeated on the day; Bryce Miller, Dax Romsdahl, Lola Barrett, Bryce Siem, Zion Redlin.

Playoffs end in Luverne, Saints break even in 2025
The third time was not the charm as St. James fell 92-46 at Luverne on February 28th. Having played Luverne twice during the regular season, the Saints knew it would be a tall task and were led by Wyatt Haler and Brennan Kern who both scored 22 points.

Highly-ranked team features Sodeman’s hot shooting
Taylor Sodeman, former St. James Area basketball star, is enjoying another outstanding season as part of the Briar Cliff University squad. The Chargers are the #5 ranked team in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics and Sodeman is an important contributor.

Area athletes continue college competition
From the local ballfields and courts of St. James several student-athletes, at different stages of their careers, represent a variety of sports. They have achieved success both in competition and in the classroom.
