Howard L. Humbles Jr.

RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CA – Howard L. Humbles, of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, passed away at his home, surrounded by his loved ones on January 15th, 2022 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Funeral services will be March 3 at 6pm at St. Peter and St. Paul Catholic church in Alta Loma, California.

Burial services will be March 4th, at 11:30 am at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside California with Military Honors.

Howard was born on May 13th 1945 to Howard L. Humbles Sr. and Mary Francis (Ortyl) Humbles, in Harvey, Illinois. He was an only child.

He graduated from Thorton Township High School in 1963 and then entered the Army. He was first stationed in St. James, MN as a Food Inspector. While stationed in St. James, he met and married the love of his life Monica Burke in October of 1966.

In 1966 Howard was reassigned to up country in Thailand in direct support of Vietnam. Shortly after he was sent to Bangkok, where he was able to have Monica with him. They stayed there for 2 years.

Howard was then assigned to Boston, MA for two years, when his two years there were up he left the army. They then moved to California where Howard’s father lived. Howard’s mother passed in May 1966, right before he was married. California is where he and Monica raised their two sons Blaine and Blake.

Howard was a super friendly and kind hearted man. He loved to bowl and golf. He loved sports, sports and more sports. In his sons younger years, he coached them in soccer and baseball.

Howard’s grandchildren were the light of his life. Garrett, David and Lucy (who was named after her great grandmother Lucy Burke). Howard lived his life for his family.

Howard is survived by his loving wife of 55 years Monica, his son Blaine and Blaine’s son Garrett, who also served 7 years in the Army, his son Blake and his wife Libby and their two children David and Lucy all of Rancho Cucamonga, CA. Many brothers and sisters in law, nephews and nieces that loved him dearly.

He is preceded in death by his parents Howard and Mary Humbles, Monica’s parents Dale and Lucy Burke. Brothers in law, Bill Persi and Darrell Bowers.

HE WILL BE GREATLY MISSED.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let Your perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed rest in peace. Amen.
