Ronald Oren Finstad, 80, was born in St. James on April 29, 1941 to Oren and Mae Finstad. The Lord called him home on April 3, 2022 at the Mayo Health System Hospital, Mankato. He was a farm boy, attended country school and graduated from Comfrey High School in 1959. After attending college, he was a banker and court reporter, retiring in 2010.

On September 8, 1962, Ron was united in marriage to Caroline Stark. They were blessed with two wonderful children – Theron of Columbia, Md., and Troy (TJ) of North Platte, Neb. Ron enjoyed gardening, puzzles, traveling and camping, but most of all, times with family and friends. He was firm in his faith and loved the Lord. He was baptized in the Christian faith and dedicated his life to serving God wherever He led.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Caroline; sons Theron and TJ (Tina); grandchildren – Seth and Eliana Finstad; sister Maxine (Alfred) Muller; brothers-in-law Jerry Ericksen, and Harlie (Carol) Stark; sisters-in-law Elaine Norell Jorgenson, and Anita Carlson; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister LaDonna Ericksen, and many dear relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or Samaritan’s Purse.

The family would like to acknowledge the love, patience and kindness shown to Ron in recent years.
