Richard Redmond, 83, of St. James died on Thursday, April 21, 2022, at Waters Edge Assisted Living Center in Mankato.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Thursday, April 28, 2022, at Sturm Funeral Home in St. James with Pastor Brad Kuebler officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday beginning at 10 a.m.

Richard Lee Redmond was born in St. James on July 11, 1938, the son of Leo and Lorene (Huck) Redmond. Rich grew up in St. James where he attended school. He worked at Tony Downs Foods for several years before going to work for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad at the age of 27. He worked as a mechanic for the railroad until he retired in 1984. On July 31, 1958, he married Carol Annis in Madelia. The couple lived and raised their six children in St. James. Rich loved working on cars and could fix almost anything, he had that natural ability. An ability and interest he passed down to a couple of his sons. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and most outdoor activities. He also enjoyed his candy and cookies. He always looked forward to spending time with his family, friends, and his dogs.
Rich is survived by his wife Carol Redmond of St. James, children: Debra (Paul) Tews of Springfield, Michael (Laurie) Redmond of Windom, Mitchell Redmond of Germany, Sheila (Edward) Mirenda of Phillipsburg, N.J., Marc Redmond of St. James, and Matthew Redmond of Fairfax, along with 17 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, one great-greatgrandson, sisters Maxine Wagner of Lake Crystal, Gail Melson of Butterfield, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins and his dog Frank. He is preceded in death by his parents and three brothers; Robert, Thomas and Kenneth.
