ODIN: A Funeral Service for Dolores Darlene Hanson, 93, of rural Odin will be 11 a.m. Thursday, September 29, 2022, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Odin with Rosine Hermodson-Olson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Dolores was called to her eternal rest on Thursday evening, August 25, 2022, at Temperance Lake Ridge in Sherburn. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church on Thursday. Messages of Sympathy may be sent to the family online at www.kramerfuneralhome.com.
Dolores Darlene Dawson was born August 7, 1929, on the farm in rural Ceylon to Walter and Geneva (Tveidt) Dawson. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Dunnell and graduated from Sherburn High School in 1947. She met husband, Kenneth Hanson, of 69 years at the Fox Lake Ballroom in Sherburn and they were united in marriage at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Dunnell on August 17, 1947. They were blessed with six children. Besides helping on the farm, Dolores was a cook at the Odin School, worked at the Ormsby Town House and Midtex in Mt. Lake. Dolores was an active member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church and served on various committees. Kenneth and Dolores enjoyed many winters in Mesa, Ariz. and took many wonderful world wide trips together, She loved her family, “The Cousins” and her friends dearly. She never failed to acknowledge her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with a card and a little “cash” on holidays and birthdays. Her passions in life were dancing, golf, baking, embroidery, gardening, playing cards and traveling.
Dolores is survived by her children, Cindy (Mark) Niederman of Carlsbad, Calif., Charnelle (Darrell) Goring of Apple Valley, Bryan (Linda) Hanson of Buckeye, Ariz., Mark (Sharon) Hanson of Hendricks; grandchildren, Zach (Jill) Goring, Lucas (Sarah) Goring, Jesse Hanson, Garrett (Lydia) Hanson, Ryan Hanson, Cole Hanson, Kaitlyn Hanson, great-grandchildren, Lexi, Ben, Logan, Britta Goring and Sienna Hanson; sister, Alice Flaherty; sister-in-law, Betty Dawson; nieces, nephews and many other friends and relatives.
Dolores was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; sons, Thomas Allen and Jeffery Lee; parents, Walter and Geneva Dawson; brother, Wally Dawson; father- and mother-in-law, Howard and Julia Hanson; in-laws, Richard Flaherty, Harold (Ardis) Hanson, Alden (Arlene) Hanson, Lorraine Hanson, Thurman LaVerne (Delores) Hanson, Pearl (Richard) Priest, Hildor Mavis, (Alfred) Bessessen, Geraldine (Wayne) Nelson, and other relatives.
