Lois E. Sands

 BUTTERFIELD – A Celebration of Life Service for Lois E. Sands, 67, of rural Butterfield will be held on Friday, December 2, 2022, at 11 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in St. James with burial in Kansas Lake Cemetery in rural Butterfield.
 Lois was called to her eternal rest on Thursday evening, November 17, 2022, at her home in rural Butterfield. Visitation with the family will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, December 1, 2022, at Kramer Family Funeral Home in Trimont and one hour prior to the services Friday at the church in St. James.  Lois Elaine Moody was born on December 1, 1954, to Aldie and Olga (Johnson) Moody in Triumph. She was baptized and later confirmed on May 17, 1970, at Kansas Lake Lutheran Church in rural Butterfield. She received her education from St. James schools later graduating with the class of 1973. Lois then attended Jackson Vocational School. On July 6, 1974, she was united in marriage to Curtis Duane Sands at Kansas Lake Lutheran Church. After their marriage they lived in rural Butterfield and raised their family on the farm. Lois worked at Pleasant View as a CNA for five years and at Sward Kemp Drug before working at St. James Public Schools as a paraprofessional for 29 years until her retirement in August of 2020. During her school years she enjoyed greeting sport fans while working in the ticket admissions. Lois was an active member of Kansas Lake Lutheran Church, where she served as Sunday School Teacher, Bible School Teacher, President of LCW and Choir. After Kansas Lake Lutheran Church closed she joined First Lutheran Church in St. James. Lois gave generously of her time and served on numerous local organizations including Butterfield Auxiliary and St. James Community Education Board. Together Curt and Lois owned and have operated Sands Country Cove Campground since 2008. Lois enjoyed visiting with campers, attending church, playing games, watching sporting events, singing, event planning and all social activities. Most of all Lois enjoyed spending time with her family and was admired for her cheerful spirit and contagious smile.

 She is survived by her loving husband, Curtis Sands of rural Butterfield; three daughters, Jennifer and Brandon Kathman of Rochester, Holly and Matthew Peters of Rochester, and Brittany and Justin Schwecke of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Paige Kathman (Logan Apel), Parker Kathman, Marshall and Kaley Peters, Emersyn and Sophie Schwecke; great-grandson Laetin Apel; sister and brothers, Ruth Tsu of Hood River, Ore., David Moody and Bonnie of Stillwater, James (Shirley) Moody of rural Butterfield, Norman (Bobbi) Moody of St. James; sisters-in-law, Beverly Moody of Buffalo Grove, Ill., Doris (Mark) Miller of Mankato, Tammy Sands of Nicholasville, Ky.; brother-in-law, Mark (Lorrie) Sands of Mankato; many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
 Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Aldie and Olga Moody; mother- and father-in-law, Walter and Vivian (Hall) Sands; brother, Richard Moody; brothers-in-law, Bob Tsu, Roger Sands and Dennis Sands; nephew, Brian Moody; niece, Sara Sands; grandparents, Carl and Axie Johnson and Carl and Hilda Moody.
