Beyond Reason: Uncle Tony

In the cooler months, Uncle Tony is a staple around the house. Uncle Tony’s usually up at dawn, sipping coffee, enjoying the sunrise, reading the paper. Then you might not see Uncle Tony until the evening. More often than not, Uncle Tony skips happy hour and dinner altogether, emerging to read to the kids, helping with bath time. On the weekend Uncle Tony might cozy up for a movie. But Uncle Tony is not a fan of the warmer weather. One of the first unofficial signs of summer are when it heats up outside and Uncle Tony goes to the basement until fall.

Baseball playoffs end, but not without a fight

Playing at the #2 seed Windom Area on May 28th, St. James Area entered the final inning down big but climbed within a run before the final out in the 9-8 loss. Tanner Olson capped a strong career with the Saints by picking up four hits and three runs batted in, including a pair in his final at bat.

Bringing life back to Meadowlark Prairies

Out on 733rd Avenue by the St. James dog park is a piece of 18 acres of land that has a long history with the City of St. James and the St. James School District. Meadowlark Prairies is an area with almost every Minnesota ecosystem in it, there is prairie land, marsh, and forest all in those 18 acres.

Third graders have juice and cookies with Mayor Sturm

Adults in St. James each month can attend Coffee with the Mayor to learn more about the city, ask questions and have a discussion. Third graders at Northside Elementary were able to have their own version of it on Thursday morning, “Juice and Cookies with the Mayor”.

Another walkoff win for SJA Baseball, 7-6 over Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey

A seesaw battle gave way to heroics from freshman Wyatt Haler in the regular season finale for the Saints. With the score tied at 6-6, Adrian Luna led off the bottom of the 7th inning with a base on balls, moved to scoring position on a sacrifice hit by Cooper Olson, and sprinted home with the winning run on a single by Haler.

Softball Saints move to 18-4 with playoff win over LCWM

After splitting the regular season matchups St. James Area added a win when it counted the most, defeating Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial 4-1 on May 28th to continue in Section playoffs.Taylor Sodeman delivered the game-winning run on a 3rd inning double and blasted a 2-out homer two innings later.

Saints jump back on winning track with win over Blue Earth Area

Life in the elimination bracket started for St. James Area with a 9-5 win over BEA as Addie Bowers, Eva Romsdahl, Allie Malmgren, and Lunden Swanson all racked up multiple hits in the game. Laney Bowers got the start, pitching five innings, and Addie Bowers closed the deal with two innings of relief.
