No-Hitter Highlights Saints Trip to Mankato Tournament

St. James Area opened the Mankato Loyola Tournament at ISG Field on May 21st with a 10-2 loss to Cleveland but rallied for a 11-0 win on the back of a no-hitter by senior Connor Jones. Jones went the distance, struck out sixteen St. Clair batters and was an error and a base on balls away from a perfect game.

MCW’s Middle Innings Squeeze Out Enough for Win Over St. James Area

On May 19th St. James Area hosted Martin County West and gave up a pair of runs in both the 4th and 5th innings to the Mavericks in a 4-1 loss. The Saints could only muster four hits in the game with Tanner Olson leading the way, finishing 2-3 with a run scored, a stolen base, and a base on balls. Hunter Stevens and Sonny Heil were each 1-3 for the game to wrap up hitting for SJA.

Christensen’s Batting Keys Home Victory Over Buccaneers

Mackenzie Christensen collected three hits and drove in five runs for St. James Area in a 10-0 five-inning win over Blue Earth Area on May 19th. Pitching credit went to Addie Bowers with the complete game shutout that included ten strikeouts and one walk and two hits.

Bowers Blanks Fairmont in Five Innings

A half dozen Saints, led by Eva Romsdahl, collected multiple hits in a short amount of time on a road trip to Fairmont on May 20th. Jaelyn Haler also knocked out three hits and piled up three runs batted in while Addie Bowers recorded the complete game shutout no-hitter with thirteen strikeouts, ending the game one batter short of a perfect game.

Track Coach Leads Team Into New Territory

With major structural changes in the MSHSL track and field format for 2022, different planning and preparation for postseason is in order. Head Coach Scott Allen is optimistic that the changes will benefit the St. James Area student-athletes.

Robert “Bryce” Bregel

Robert “Bryce” Bregel was born on August 28, 1954, to Charles and Valerie (Shaw) Bregel in Sleepy Eye. Bryce was one of 10 children, and as a child, his family moved around frequently.
