Artist of the Week: I Love to Read special

Fifth grader Aubrey Solheid designed the t-shirts for I LOVE TO READ MONTH . The theme is Dinosaurs -Stomp Chomp Read. Over 250 shirts were purchased. Students are encouraged to wear the shirts on T-Shirt Tuesdays during the month of February. Congratulations Aubrey!

Star Saint Wrestler Hits Milestone During Madelia Event

The Saints dropped into the gym at nearby Madelia for a triangular on January 30th and captured a pair of victories but part of that success capped off a long list of wins. SJA junior Kollin Anderson secured his 75th win that evening and is already running down the next goal.

Jean Audrey Lepp, 91, of St. James, died on January 31, 2023, at Good Samaritan Society-The Village in Mountain Lake with family at her side. Visitation will be on Saturday, April 29, 2023, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Augustana Lutheran Church in St. James, where a Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m.

Last Thursday was Groundhogs Day, as I am sure everyone knows. if I am remembering correctly whatever he did or did not see the groundhog said it will be six more weeks of winter.

After 55 years of growth at Odin State Bank, Harder retires

Robert Harder has had a full career from being an accountant in the Army stationed in Germany and being a loan officer in Ormsby to buying Odin State Bank. He checked paperwork and banking information for the last time last week before he hung his hat and started his retirement on Wednesday.

SJA Girls Wrestlers Compete in Historical Tournament

Three St. James Area Wrestlers were part of the largest girls-only wrestling tourney in Minnesota history on February 4th at Pine Island High School. Eva Romsdahl, Arlene Melendez, and Nevaeh Hanson all placed high in their respective brackets.

Explosion of Points and Overtime End With Huskies Win

The St. James Area Saints battled back to force an overtime against the Jackson County Central Huskies on February 6th but came up short in the 98-92 decision. Taylor Sodeman’s outstanding effort of 42 points was countered by JCC’s Rylie Cother’s school record 53 points to pace the winners.
