Growth is not only happening in the sports department at St. James High School this year.

The 55th annual Steam and Gas Engine Show, less formally called the Threshing Bee—or just the Bee, held Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 20-21 at Voss Park in Butterfield was another successful event, organized by the Butterfield Threshermen’s Association.

WCEA Concerts opens its 2022-23 Season with Copper Street Brass, a Minneapolis-based brass sextet, on Thursday, Sept. 15, 7 p.m.

Submitted After two years of virtual piano recitals, students of Myrna Eppeland, Chris Pitcher, Janet Norell and Glennda Hedlund performed “in person” recitals at Hosanna Free Lutheran Church in St. James.

On Thursday, July 21, the Theater and Arts Board provided an evening of theater and music to raise money for needed renovations in the Little Theater at the high school. The Board organized an evening performance entitled “Let us Entertain you.” which featured local talent providing music and one act plays.

Pleasant View Good Samaritan Society of St James has a tradition of crowning a king and queen each year in May during National Nursing Home week. While ALL the residents at Pleasant View are considered “kings” and “queens” of amazing lives and perspectives, Kenneth Nelson and Anna Ringen were crowned as 2022-23 King and Queen. Look for them in the upcoming Railroad Days parade on June 25.
