Smithfield Foods expansions
On Friday, St. James City Staff and Smithfield Foods representatives had the opportunity to visit with each other in regards to the company’s parking lot expansion.
Old Stories
For the last few years, in the fall, I’ve been preaching from the Old Testament. There are a lot of joys in preaching from the Old Testament. For one thing, it’s a little different; most of our preaching is generally from the New Testament, and it’s fun to get a little variety in there once in a while. But for another thing, it’s always an interesting challenge.
St. James Athletic Hall of Fame
The 9th annual St. James Athletic Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be held this Saturday October 15, 2022. This year’s events will start at 4:00 p.m. with a social hour, with all activities being held at the St. James VFW. A catered meal will be served at 5:30 p.m., with the program beginning at 6:45. Tickets for the meal and program are $20, and can be reserved by emailing Jon Wilson jwilson@isd840.org, or contacting the St. James Activities Office at 3775602. The deadline is fast approaching, and a limited number of tickets will be available at the door.

180 4th Graders Attend Watonwan County Farm and Home Safety Day
Watonwan County Fairgrounds, St. James MN --Watonwan County 4-H and Farm Bureau coordinated the annual Farm and Home Safety Day for all children in the 4th grade in the county. It has been two years since the Farm and Home Safety Day has been held and everyone was excited to see it return. There were 180 children from 5 different schools in the county that attended this event. Everyone was given a highly visible colored T-Shirt and safety bags packed with loads of safety information for them to take home to their families.
St. James School District offering free breakfast
Growing up people heard breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Starting this week on Monday students at St. James’ schools will be able to get breakfast everyday this school year for free.

National 4-H Week Oct. 2-8
October 2 - 8 is National 4-H Week. 4-H helps kids grow self confidence, the importance of being involved with your community, plus families make new friends.

Northside Elementary new teachers
Johanna Alvarez, Jordyn Horn, Mara Docherty, Kaylyn Burr, and Lydia Ommodt have joined Northside Elementary teaching staff. Alvarez is joining Northside as a Special Education Paraprofessional.
Fun in La Salle
La Salle Day was celebrated on Saturday, Sept. 3, with fun for kids - such as this bouncy house and a petting zoo and pony rides - a bean bag tournament, a car show, music and food.
