Students explore healthcare careers with local agencies
Exploring career options before graduating high school is one choice in a student’s last year of high school in St. James. In the third trimester each year, Steve Chapin, Health teacher at St. James High School, offers Healthcare Career Explorations is a class for students interested in pursuing a healthcare career area after graduation.
St. James Trimester II – Honor Roll
The trimester II honor roll was announced last week. A Honor Roll (3.667 to 4.0): Grade 7; Isabelle Alphs, Kaleigh Besel, Brett Blom, Maren Bluedorn, Sara Boelke, Claire Carlson, Kaelyn Ellis, Hannah Etienne, Hudson Flohrs, Quinton Kern, Brenna Oldenburg, Alberto Rivera Ramirez, Laila Romsdahl, Katelyn Runge, Alyiah Sandbo, Jayse Siem, Ava Sturlis, Annie Watson.

Schwanz is Named Activities Administrator for ISD #840
After nearly two decades away, Jared Schwanz is excited to return to his alma mater and complete a lifetime goal. Schwanz, his wife Beth (Kunze), and their children Liam and Liliana are preparing to be part of the St. James community after the last ten years in Jamestown, ND.
Butterfield City Council discusses water pumps and golf cart ordinance
Butterfield City Council met for its monthly meeting on Monday, April 10. The meeting started with an update on the water pumps. The west pump has been working an extended number of hours compared to the other one, mike said the previous day it worked for 18 hours. The city has had the west pump blocked with paper towels and wipes before, Mike thinks it could be blocked again. They talked about what the city could do to stop another blockage from happening, putting a mesh barrier in the pipe before the pump to catch the wipes was discussed.

School Board approved Jared Schwanz as the new Activities Administrator
St. James School Board had its meeting Monday night. The meeting started with the board approving new hires, a part of the new hire group was Jared Schwanz who was hired as the new Activities Administrator. He will be taking over in July once Les Zellman retires. It was asked if Schwanz will be a full-time AA, Superintendent Steve Heil answered that he will be full-time with the new addition of soccer and the rest of the sports taking up his time.
