Great River Energy, wholesale power provider to 27 member distribution cooperatives, is asking Minnesota communities to join the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association and hundreds of co-ops across the U.S. in recognizing the work line technicians do for the communities they serve on April 10, 2023, Lineworker Appreciation Day.

St. James Women of Today Easter Egg Hunt this Saturday

Come to the Watonwan Co. Fairgrounds this Saturday, April 8th, starting at 10 AM, for the Annual Easter Egg Hunt. Thanks to many wonderful donations from local businesses, the St. James Women of Today will host this event for children, ages 0 – 12. Pick up eggs, play games, face-painting offered, receive a gift-bag, and stay for the drawings for gift-baskets and more. Let’s hope for good weather! Make sure your children are dressed to be outside. See you Saturday!

Moved by the story of Easter

As the Outreach Pastor at Crossroads Church, I get the honor of hosting the community Easter Egg Hunt that the church puts on. It’s a fabulous time for the kids. Upon the “Ready, Set, GO” they collect eggs faster than what seems humanly possible. Then the kids and their adults return to the church for a quick story time. This is my favorite part. Although, we do a super fun and adorable Cakewalk afterward, a fun activity I’ve cherished for the past 16 years, and even though there are tons of games and prizes to be had… I still consider that story time my all-time favorite.

B-O school board approves Blankenship as Superintendent

At the Butterfield- Odin School Board meeting on March 27, the board approved the hiring of Principal Dan Blankenship as Butterfield-Odin’s new superintendent. Superintendent Steve Thomas announced his retirement earlier this year, with his official retirement date being approved during the meeting as well. Thomas will end his era as Butterfield- Odin’s superintendent on June 30, 2023. In his year’s of being Butterfield Superintedent Thomas has worked on improving the school district’s financial condition and an increase in enrollment the school is good shape. Thomas has every belief that Blankenship will continue moving the school in a positive direction after he leaves.

Come have a ‘Crazy’ fun time and help defeat ALS at Crazy Bingo

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is an incurable terminal disease. Upon diagnosis, the typical ALS patient’s life expectancy is 2-5 years. Corinee Brown was diagnosed in October of 2009 and passed away August 27, 2015. Her brave battle with this disease was an inspiration to those who knew her. The only thing she could do to fight back was to join the ALS Walk movement. To continue the fight Corinee’s husband Bill Brown along with their friends hosts Crazy Bingo to Defeat ALS.
