Community Survey results are in
St. James City Council held its meeting on Tuesday, March 21. The meeting started with a public hearing for the St. James City Charter, Joe McCabe addressed the council and those in attendance about the process the council used in addressing the target changes. McCabe said they reviewed the current charter, held to community meetings, they visited with the City Manager and City Clerk-Treasurer. Changes are made based on staff recommendations, and current procedures and policies. McCabe and the committee recommend the committee meets in five years and then again in 10 years.

Watonwan County 4-H Dairy Project Bowl Regional Champions!
The Watonwan County 4-H Senior Dairy Project Bowl team competed at regionals in Redwood Falls on Saturday March, 18th. They walked away as regional champions and will be headed to the State Competition on April 15th.

St. James sees growth in business
St. James in the past year has seen a lot of businesses starting up in town.

Meadowlark Prairies Outdoor Lab
Meadowlark Prairies Outdoor Lab was established in 1973 as an outdoor learning site for the student, teachers, and parents of District 840. Several projects were completed in 2022 to improve and rejuvenate the area with its ponds, woods, and prairie ecosystems. Listed below are some of the improvements completed and goals for 2023.

Madelia Health to Operate Amberfield Place Senior Living Apartments
Madelia, Minn. – Madelia Health (MH) announced this week that they will be taking over the ownership and operation of the Amberfield Senior Living Apartment complex that is attached to their facility in Madelia. The space is currently owned by South Central Multi-County Housing and Redevelopment Authority and managed by Great Lakes Management. The transition to MH will begin on March 1st, 2023.

St. James Veterinary Clinic is settling into its new clinic
In the Spring and Summer of 2022, the St. James Veterinary Clinic was having its new location renovated. They were adding exam rooms, and lobby areas to list a few of the things added to the building. This past September staff moved everything over to the new clinic and opened it for all their clients.
