St. James first responders respond to Carbon monoxide alert; encourage checking CO detectors
In the middle of January, the page went out for a carbon monoxide alert at a communal living facility in St James. The page, at about dinnertime for most folks, stated that CO gas was detected. CO is nothing to mess around with. I lost a good friend from Springfield to CO poisoning – the danger is real. Immediately after getting the call, the Sheriff’s Office 911 Telecommunicators paged out both the Fire and EMS departments. Upon their arrival, CO was detected with their monitors and the process of activating years of training and experience naturally took hold and the community came together.

Rep. Marj Fogelman visits St. James for Principal for a Day
Representative Marj Fogelman took the day on Thursday, Jan. 9 to visit St. James and Windom schools for the Principal for a Day. She toured the schools to see programs the students have been working with. She also talked with principals about concerns they have for the upcoming school year and programs the schools have been working with such as LETRS and Wit & Wisdom.
7th street project moves forward with going out for bids
The St. James City Council at its meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 21 discussed the next step of the road improvement project on 7th Street

Roundhouse announces raffle winners for 2024
The Roundhouse Model Railroad Club in St. James has announced its raffle winners for 2024. The winner of the Railroad Days pocket watch is Allison Wagner of Fairmont. Kai Boyd of Mankato is the winner of the O gauge train set that was raffled off at the end of the Christmas Holiday open houses.

Jessica Chavez wins St. James District 840 Spelling Bee
Twelve Northside 5th graders and St. James Middle School students took their spelling to the test against one another at the St. James Spelling Bee. Students, teachers and parents gathered in the Little Theater on Thursday, Jan 23 for the spelling bee.
