New law passed
In the last week Governor Walz has been signing a few high-interest bills into law. The most talked about one is the recreational cannabis bill. Minnesota follows 22 other states legalizing recreational cannabis use and growth, manufacturing, and lawful sale of products.

New Nurse Practitioner at Madelia Health Clinic
Madelia Health is excited to announce that Megan Gossman, APRN, CNP, has joined our Madelia Clinic providers as a Nurse Practitioner after completing her education and certification. Gossman had been a valuable part of the Nursing Department in the Madelia Health Hospital for over 20 years prior to starting her practice in the Clinic. In addition to working shifts on the floor, she was also the Infection Prevention/Employee Health Coordinator during the COVID-19 pandemic.

One Saint James kickoff event June 7
Mayor Jon Wilson is helping to lead a new initiative with the goal of strengthening the St. James community through more intentional partnerships between the organizations and businesses that already exist in this community. Together with leaders from the Chamber of Commerce, St. James Public Schools, Uniting Cultures/Uniendo Culturas, and Convivencia Hispana, Wilson is planning a kickoff event on June 7 for a brand new network called One Saint James.
