A few days ago I sat next to some fine people at the Windom School Board meeting, the bunch of us waiting for our names to be read off. I wouldn’t say that attending a school board meeting has always been a comfortable experience, nor would hearing my name read off a list always generated warm, fuzzy feelings.

Ask a Trooper

Question: I was wondering, with the ads on television showing people driving with their hands off the steering wheel, is that legal in Minnesota if your vehicle has that capability? Answer: I believe you are asking about autonomous vehicles, or self-driving cars, which are capable of sensing their environment and operating without human involvement. Minnesota law states that every driver is responsible for becoming and remaining aware of the actual and potential hazards that exist on the highway and must use due care in operating a vehicle.

BUS DRIVERS AND THE DRIVING PUBLIC

As we come to the end of the 2022/23 school year, I want to give thanks and credit to our MEN AND WOMEN who drive school buses and vans for our bus company and to all bus drivers. With the shortage of drivers nationwide, our drivers have been very faithful and dependable to service St. James District 840. I am adding a poem penned 40 years ago by a bus driver named Stanley J. Mouser, a driver for Grisim Bus Service.

Spots are limited, and while this is offered at all of our Watonwan County Libraries, we are only allowing guests to sign up for one workshop.
