You May or May Not Like it But May is Here

After what has seemed like a never-ending winter, the month of May is finally upon us and with it, hope to truly believe in a spring and possible summer. A full slate of designated days are off and running with May Day, along with Lei Day in Hawaii, on the 1st, followed by Cinco de Mayo, Mother’s Day, Armed Forces Day, National Maritime Day, Victoria Day in Canada, and Memorial Day.

Tax day craziness

Tuesday was tax day, which means it was the final day to file your taxes. If we were in a classroom and the teacher asked who all waited for the last day to file, my husband and I would be raising our hands along with a handful of other people.

The Long Way Home

This week’s Plaindealer includes news of the recent hire for St. James Public Schools Activities Administrator. Jared Schwanz took nearly twenty years to complete the trip but he is making his way back home. The long way is most likely the best way in this case.

Shout out to all students

On Friday morning, I was driving over by Dairy Queen when I saw a group of kids running. I do not know if they are on the track or cross-country team, either way they were out there together running. Kudos to those kids, if any one of them are reading this good for you all for taking your time when school is out to keep on your training.

Ask a Trooper

Question: Do I need an oversize or wideload permit to haul a boat lift that is over 9 feet wide to my cabin? Answer: You would need to obtain a permit because the width is over 8 feet 6 inches. Hauling oversized items without a permit or escorts (if required) can be dangerous and is illegal.
