There are plenty of things wrong with this country. Too much of this. Too little of that. And, of course, President’s Day. There are many, many dumb things about President’s Day. It’s actually hard to know where to start.

COVID-19 may seem to be plateauing a little right now, but there is another illness that everyone knows all too well coming back into play this year. The flu.

On Sunday, Jan.9 the Butterfield Community Fund Park Improvement held an all you could eat lutefisk and Swedish meatball buffet with all the proceeds going to the beautiful park being built in Butterfield. It is located on the same block as the Veteran Memorial.

The big game’s a’comin’ and every year there’s a lot of talk about the commercials. Normally commercials are a thing I avoid. During a commercial break, I usually take a stroll or engage in light banter. I might fix a snack or even, on occasion, check the laundry.

We have all heard the saying March will come in like a lamb or Lion and leave as the other. Each year that old saying seems to be true for March, but for 2022 I am starting to feel like that may be the saying for the year in my life.

The big day is approaching. No time to waste.

Winter this year has been on that has given us a lot of crazy weather, especially over the weekends. I feel like mother nature loves to give out the bad weather when the weekend comes, it has happened twice this winter.

So, January is many things, but I think the word most people use to describe it is “long”. Yes, technically it’s tied for the longest month of the year with others but I’d like to see any other month look hard and long into the cold, grey eyes of January and see who blinks first.
