Triangular at New Ulm Ties Saints in Knots
Lee Carlson A trip to New Ulm on January 19th saw plenty of space between Saints victories as the team competed with the host Eagles and the Cobras of Windom/Mt. Lake.

Overtime Ends in Favor of Redwood as Fans Enjoy Scoring Fest
Back and forth play between Big South Conference opponents on January 24th in St. James led to a 96-91 overtime win for Redwood Valley over the Saints. Slim leads gave way to a double-digit lead late in regulation for the Cardinals before SJA battled back to force an extra period.

Saintettes Prepare for State Qualifier With Home Event
The St, James Saintettes built on events at Lac Qui Parle, Marshal, and Yellow Medicine East to prepare for the State qualifying meet in Montevideo on February 11th. The program set new marks at both the varsity and JV levels and will perform at the Extravaganza in St. James this coming Saturday evening.

Eight Saints Earn Placings at the Wabasso Tournament
The St. James Area traveled to Wabasso once again on January 21st, this time for a large tournament and a bevy of Saints found their way to the awards platform. Levi Miest and Julio Esqueda finished the day as runners-up for their weight classes.

Players, and Team, Reach Double Figures Scoring Against Chargers
St. James Area powered to a 78-38 non-conference victory over Minnesota Valley Lutheran on January 20th and ten different Saints scored points. Taylor Sodeman and Madelyn Malmgren broke the 20-point barrier with 25 and 22 points respectively.
Saints Halftime Surplus Grows to 96-63 Win Over Giants
The January 20th game with Lesueur-Henderson started strong for St. James Area, and it kept getting better. A 43-30 lead at intermission was knell for a 5333 second half burst as a dozen Saints put up points during the contest.
Battle of the Saints Goes to St. Peter, St. Peter comes out on top
A strong St. Peter squad climbed to a 34-18 halftime edge and held on for a 63-52 final on January 17th.

Romsdahl Reigns as Historic Conference Wrestling Champ
The 2023 Big South Conference Wrestling Tournament was held in Pipestone on January 14th and for the first time, female wrestlers competed in their own bracket. Also for the first time, Eva Romsdahl brought home a 1st place medal for St. James Area girls wrestlers.
Team Effort Pushes Host New Ulm to Final Minute in Girls Basketball
St. James faced a big task against the 11-3 New Ulm Eagles on Monday, January 16th, and proved more than capable, fighting to stay within a shot with a minute to go in a 83-73 Big South Conference game. All five starters hit double figures in the scoring column for the Saints, now 7-5 on the season..
