An outburst rarely seen at any level, the Windom Eagles put up 78 points in the opening half on January 6th and rolled on to a 115-76 victory over the St. James Area boys basketball team. The Saints were led by Brennan Kern and Anthony Slettas scoring 17 points apiece.

Jeff Nelson Memorial Tournament Provides Cyclone Youth Days of Action
Two days of youth wrestling filled the St. James Area High School Event Center, an individual tournament on Saturday, January 7th, and an 8-team tournament the following day.

A rescheduled game was a battle between St. James Area and Waterville- Elysian-Morristown, coached by SJHS alum Ty Kaus, on January 9th with the host Dragons capturing a close victory. The Saints played hard throughout but had difficulty making up for a large gap in free throws shots awarded.

GBB Grabs Program Victory #500 During Important Section Victory at Windom
Five players hit double figures for St. James Area during a 89-78 triumph, the 500th win for St. James girls basketball, on January 6th at Windom. Outstanding free throw shooting and rebounding paved the way for the Big South Conference win.

Wrestlers Win By Criteria in Dual Match With Wabasso
St. James Area traveled to Wabasso on January 5th for a triangular with the Rabbits and the Benson Braves. A close match through, a deadlocked score led to a decision in favor of the Saints for Ethan Hildebrandt’s first career victory as a head coach.

Sodeman Joins Elite Hoops Group With 1,000th Career Point
St. James Area provided fans plenty of excitement in the final tournament game on December 28th, leading 51-18 at halftime and no score garnered more attention than a basket from Taylor Sodeman. The SJA senior who is signed to play college hoops at Briar Cliff University next year sank a basket towards the end of the 1st half and eclipsed 1,000 points.

KMS Trio Spells Trouble for SJA in 91-71 Loss at Windom Tourney
The championship game of the Windom Holiday Tournament matched the St. James Area Saints and the Kerkhoven-Murdock- Sundberg Saints on December 28th. Three players for KMS accounted for 74 of their 91 points and the Saints dropped to 3-3 to close the 2022 portion of the season schedule.
Saints Regain Winning Ways to Close NRHEG Tourney With Win
After an opening round loss in the New Richland tournament Saint James Area rebounded to post a convincing 78-38 victory over Minnesota Valley Lutheran as Taylor Sodeman scored her 1,000th point. Scoring leaders were sisters Jacey and Journey Swanson with 18 and 16 points respectively during the game on December 28th.
St. James Cyclones Set to Host Youth Wrestling Tournament
Youth wrestlers, coaches, and families are set to converge on St. James Area High School for a two-day tournament January 7th and 8th. Starting in 2023 the event will recognize SJHS wrestling legend Jeff Nelson, a member of the 1972 State Championship team and Hall of Famer.
