Runners Pick Up the Pace at the Turkey Trot
Personal records were the theme of the day on September 15th at Worthington for the St. James Area cross country teams. Levi Miest and America Trejo led their respective teams, each placing high enough to earn a trophy in addition to a best time ever. On September 23rd the program will host an elementary/middle school fun run.
Comeback For Wings United Falls Short in Rematch With Sibley East
The inaugural soccer match for the St. James Area/Windom Wings United program was a victory over Eastern Central Prairie, the Sibley East soccer team.

Saints Push Greyhounds Into Overtime Session Thriller at New Ulm
St. James Area’s strides towards victory ended one step short as New Ulm Cathedral booted the extra point for the final play and a 29-28 win over the Saints. Boosted by a long run, the Saints’ Sonny Heil broke the 200-yard threshold for rushing yards for the first time in nearly two decades.

Big South Conference Opponents Fill Week For St. James
St. James Area added another trio of wins for the 2022 season, taking care of Worthington at home on September 15th and earning road victories at Blue Earth on the 19th and Luverne a day later. In the Worthington match Allison Bluedorn reached the milestone of 50 wins for her career.
United Wings Girls Soccer Action Includes Ups and Downs
Recent matches for the St. James/ Windom girls soccer cooperative involved a strong contest at Tri-City United on September 10th and a tough match-up at Mayer Lutheran on the 13th. Lack of experience, both as individuals and as a team, continues to be a focus for improvement.
Saints Volleyball Battles But Wins Remain Hard to Find
Volleyball matches for the Saints were on the road and each ended 3-0 the wrong way but included mostly tight scores in sets. On Thursday, September 22nd the team returns home for a contest against Fairmont.

Hosting Mt. Lake Area leads to 5 set thriller
St. James Area’s schedule featured a home match with neighboring Mt. Lake Area on Monday, Sept. 12 and the Saints fans got their money’s worth. Taylor Sodeman and Journey Swanson each provided big all around efforts as SJA pushed the visitors right to the end.
Saints Football home opener demonstrates improvement in strong second half
A balanced offense and big plays on special teams were points of strength for St. James Area, fueling a second half surge in a 36-12 loss to Minnesota Valley Lutheran on Sept. 9. Gavin Firchau piled up return yardage for the Saints, scoring a 71-yard touchdown on a punt return and averaging over 20 yards a kickoff return.

Wings United’s 4-2 home victory moves season record to 2-1
The St. James/Windom soccer cooperative returned to the win column with a 4-2 victory over Tri-City United on Sept. 10. Fredy Garcia scored two goals and a single goal each was credited to Manuel Tinguar and Carlos Perez.

Saints defend home tennis turf in dominating fashion
The St. James Area girls tennis team spent Saturday, Sept. 10 in high gear, defeating Belle Plaine 6-1 and posting 7-0 shutouts over Pipestone and Minneapolis Roosevelt. The only team point awarded to an opponent required a third set.
