Area Fisherman Enjoys Monster Haul From River
Morgan, MN resident Preston Maurer raised the mark for his top catch in a quest for monster catfish. The flathead catfish weighed approximately 60 pounds and was released back to the river.
Saints Leap at Opportunity to Compete at State Track Meet
St. James Area proved to be the dominant school in regard to horizontal jumps at the Section 2A track meet on June 3rd, qualifying three athletes for the State meet. Gavin Firchau swept the long and triple jump titles while Anthony Sletta was runnerup in long jump and Lily Ciske claimed runnerup honors in the triple jump.

Track and Field Efforts Gain Chance at State for Saints
The 3A South Sub-section meet took place at Mapleton on May 25th with the top eight individuals and top four relays advancing to this Saturday’s Section 3A meet to be held at Mankato West. Both SJA squads ended in the middle of the team standings with Gavin Firchau qualifying in all four of his events and winning the long jump.
Grand Slam Halts Saints Baseball Playoff Run
The #3-seeded Saint James Area Saints rallied to dig their way out of an early deficit but lost 13-9 on a long ball in the third game against Windom Area this season. Down 8-3 after an inning the team rallied to force a 9-9 tie after five innings at the Irish Yard on May 30th.

2023 Saints Softball Campaign Ends With Heartbreaker
Earning the lead twice during the game, St. James saw New Ulm’s rally decide a 4-2 Section 2AA elimination game on May 27th. Both teams committed three errors and St. James Area outhit the Eagles 5-4 but three runs in their final at bat by the #1 seed halted S JA’s playoff run.
Saint James Area Tames Medford Tigers 6-0 at Caswell Park
The Saints advanced in Section 2AA playoffs with a 6-0 victory over Medford on May 27th at Caswell Park in North Mankato. In addition to a near-perfect- pitching effort-, Addie Bowers was 2-4 with three runs batted in and Laney Bowers led the team with a 3-3 day and a pair of RBIs.
Late Rally Advances St. James Area Baseball in 3AA Playoffs
Alex St.resemann’s complete game pitching excellence gave SJA a chance at. game’s end on May 27t.h and hits by Jesus Moriel and Max Westman keyed a rally in the final inning of a 4-3 win over Redwood Valley. St.resemann led the team with 2-3 hitting and Sonny Heil’s RBI helped St.. James Area score two runs in the 4t.h inning.
