Saints Return to Winning Ways With 73-61 Victory Over Jaguars
Deadlocked at halftime, St. James Area played a smart final half of basketball to beat Truman/Martin Luther/ Granada-Huntley-East Chain 73-61 on February 16th at Northrop. A game-high 27 points by Alex Stresemann paced the scoring and the Saints capitalized on a free throw advantage to beat the Jags who were riding a 12-8 winning streak.
Adrian Leaves Saints Behind in Section Wrestling
The St. James Area wrestling team loaded the bus for a Section team contest at Adrian on February 16th, falling 62-12 to the #3-seeded Dragons. The Saints found points hard to come by outside of a pair of decisions on either side of Kollin Anderson’s pin at 138 pounds.


Valentines Cards are Bittersweet for SJA Girls Basketball
The St. James Area girls basketball team rolled into Fairmont with hopes for an upset in the Section standings but the Cardinals captured the 75-62 decision on February 14th. St. James squad led 36-34 but were unable to hold off the hosts down the final stretch.

St. James community members were treated to an early Valentine’s Day evening on Saturday, Feb.
Butterfield City Council appoints Le Schlomann as Mayor
Butterfield City Council met for its monthly meeting on Feb. 15. The meeting started with an update on how the lake is doing with the aeration. The aerator facing north during the last storm iced up and is now flipped over.

Nathan “Nate” Thomas Nelson was a loving father, brother, son, and friend. He passed away unexpectedly at Fairview University Hospital on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, following a battle with bile duct cancer surrounded by loved ones.
