DOUGLAS HAROLD AHRENSTORFF
Douglas Harold Ahrenstorff, 68, died peacefully on April 6, 2023, shortly after being diagnosed with cancer. Doug was born on April 23, 1954, to Dorothy and Harold (Bud) Ahrenstorff in Trimont. He grew up on the family farm, enjoying milking with his dad and caring for his horse, Prince. He graduated from St. James High School in 1972, accumulating accolades for choir, wrestling, and football as well as lifelong friends. He went on to meat cutting school and later Mankato State University, where he met his future wife, Colleen. Colleen and Doug were married in 1978. After college, Doug worked as a high school teacher and for the Windom Citizen newspaper before beginning a 28-year career with Aid Association for Lutherans (later, Thrivent Financial). He found deep satisfaction in helping others achieve their personal and financial goals and was always grateful for the many friendships and mentorship opportunities he had along the way. Doug will be remembered for his unceasing passion for the financial markets and never-ending contemplation of his next meal. He was at his best hosting his family on Lake Latoka in Alexandria, putting worms on hooks, cooking eggs to order, and officiating driveway baseball games. He loved to tinker in his garden or with a woodworking project. His dedication to his family, especially his mother, was unparalleled. He was quick with a joke, a hug, and a word of advice. To no one’s surprise, he was fun and funny until the end.

LAURA MARIE LINN
On March 26, 2023, our beloved Laura transitioned to the next adventure on her spiritual path. Laura was deeply loved and respected by her family and friends and will be greatly missed. She was raised by her parents, Henriette and Gardner, in a farming community near St. James with siblings Carol and Gerry. Laura’s interests truly reflected who she was. Her competitiveness shined through with power volleyball and tournament scrabble, while her love of the arts was expressed in her woodworking, painting, and music. Laura loved the outdoors and frequently biked with cousin Marge, camped, hiked, and skied. No matter the activity, her biggest joy was sharing it with the ones she loved. With her Master’s Degree in Social Work, Laura worked for Hennepin County for over 30 years and was highly regarded in her many roles, always being driven by her passion for children’s safety and wellbeing. Laura and partner Judy spent over 30 years together, sharing children Bryan and Thaddeus, and later their spouses, children, and grandchildren. The children of the family loved Laura wholeheartedly because of the wild energy she lived to cultivate in young people. From harebrained schemes to outlandish projects, Laura was always young at heart. Her wisdom and warmth was felt by all and the love she had for her family was only matched by the love her family had for her. Preceding Laura in death are her parents, Henriette and Gardner Linn; brotherinlaw, Eric Enwall; beloved niece, Jennifer Grove; bonus child, Benjamin Cavara; aunts, uncles, and cousins. Surviving Laura are her partner Judy Popham; stepsons, Bryan Popham (Debbie), Thaddeus Lesiak (Katy); grandchildren, Tana (Cole), Sean and Sage; great-grandson, Marvin; siblings, Carol Enwall (Eric) and Gerry Linn (Kathy); nieces, Marge Brown and family, Sarah Fast and family; grandniece, Harlie and family; grandnephew, Blake; Judy Vickberg (Tim) and family; Nicholas and Joseph Cavara; many beloved cousins and lifelong friends.
