Marjorie Lucille (Overmire) Moulton of St. James, 96, entered into glory on October 20, 2022, at Mayo Clinic Health System (St. James). Marge was born in Minneapolis on April 13, 1926, to Rev. Raymond Edwin and Lillian (Tifft) Overmire, descendants of Governor William Bradford of the Mayflower. With her family having moved to Lima, Ohio, Marge spent her early years there and in Huntington and Richmond, Ind. She graduated from Richmond Senior High in 1945 after which she and her family moved back to Minneapolis. Marge attended the University of Minnesota where she graduated in 1951 with a Home Economics degree with Related Arts in Business. It was during this time that she met her future husband and companion, Keith Moulton. They married in August of 1951 while Marge worked at the University of Minnesota. In 1954, after Keith finished medical school and his internship, they moved to St. James where Keith set up his medical practice with Dr. Roger Parsons. Two months later Keith was called up by the Navy, where they spent most of their time in Seattle, Wash. where they added two children to their family. After two years, they returned to St. James where Keith resumed his medical practice and they added two more children to their family.
Marge was a supportive and encouraging mother to her four children all of her life. She also enjoyed arts and crafts, including knitting, cross-stitch, calligraphy, oil painting and handmade cards. Marge had a wonderful sense of humor and brought fun and laughter to her family and friends. Marge received Jesus Christ as her Savior and Lord in November 1980. Her faith in Jesus Christ led her to have a deep care and concern for her family and others. Marge spent many years as a member of the United Methodist Women’s Circle, a board member for the St. James Christian Women’s Club. She was a member of Tuesday Study Club for nearly 60 years. She and two beloved friends formed a Christian trio, Lightshine, which sang at many events and churches. Marge and Keith were faithful prayer warriors, closing each day praying for the needs and concerns of others.
Marge was preceded in death by her loving husband of 70 years, Keith, her parents, Raymond and Lillian Overmire, and her brother, Ray Jr., and her sister, Alice. She is survived by her sons David (Pamela) and Brian (Laurie); daughters Kay (Allan) Hawkins and Judy (Bruce) Haugen; grandchildren Randi (Joshua) Streblow, Jana (Dan) Eads, Grant Hawkins, Stephen (Rebecca) Moulton, Sarah (Ryan) Miller, Hannah Haugen and Simon Haugen; and 17 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Marge was a loving daughter, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.
