Northside Elementary performing Disney’s The Lion King Kids

May 5, 2023- Disney’s The Lion King Kids is playing at Saint James High School Little Theatre on Thursday, May 18 at 7 pm and Saturday, May 20 at 10 am. The 30-minute musical, designed for middle-school-aged performers, is based on the Broadway production directed by Julie Taymor and the 1994 Disney film. The Northside Elementary cast contains approximately 80 students led by Cathy Bruce & Pam Olson The Lion King KIDS tells the story of the epic adventures of a curious cub named Simba as he struggles to accept the responsibilities of adulthood and his destiny as king. Along the way, the young lion encounters a colorful cast of characters including spunky lioness Nala, charismatic meerkat Timon, and loveable warthog Pumbaa. To claim his rightful place on the throne and save his beloved Pridelands, Simba must find his inner strength and confront his wicked Uncle Scar. The Lion King KIDS features classic songs from the 1994 film such as “Hakuna Matata” and the Academy Award-winning “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” as well as additional songs penned for the Broadway production.

Poppy Day

Dear Veteran Supporters, The red poppy is a nationally recognized symbol of sacrifice worn by Americans since World War I to honor those who served and died for our country in all wars. It reminds Americans of the sacrifices made by our veterans while protecting our freedom.

Shout out to nurses and teachers

Two amazing career fields are being recognized this week, and both of them shape people’s lives in different ways. Happy National Teachers and Nurses Appreciation Week. Thank you for all you do for people in the St. James community or wherever you work.

Mr. Wendt’s Class collected the most for the Northside Food Drive

The Northside Student Leadership completed their food drive for this year with great success. The students donated 1961 items of food , which is approximately 1505 pounds of food. The Winning classroom with the most items was Mr. Wendt’s classroom with 340 items. Great job Northside. Pat Kirchner

Students learn the dangers of driving while impaired

St. James Fire Department with the help of St. James Police Department, St James Volunteer Ambulance, Watonwan County Sheriff’s Office, Minnesota State Patrol, North Memorial Health, Mayo Clinic Health System St. James, Sturm Family Funeral Home, staff and student volunteers, held a mock crash for St. James High School Juniors and Seniors.
