Swanson and Schmidt named Miss St. James

Each year the St. James Railroad Days accepts applicants from junior year girls for Miss St. James. This year Jaelyn Haler and Destiny Sawatzky passed their crowns down to Lunden Swanson and Emma Schmidt.

Embracing Diversity

Last week, the authors of Embracing Diversity: Faith, Vocation, and the Promise of America came to town and spoke at the St. James library. The authors are Darrell Jodock and William Nelsen. There were two take-aways from their conversation that I wanted to pass on.

Leona R. Jacoby

ODIN: A Service of Remembrance for Leona R. Jacoby, 87, of New Ulm and formerly of rural Odin was 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at Zion Lutheran Church in Odin. Private family burial was in Long Lake Lutheran Cemetery in rural St. James.

Dan Glasgow

Celebration of Life for Dan Glasgow is planned Friday, June 24, 4-6 p.m. at the Knight’s Lounge in Ormsby.

Albion Bazaar June 18

Some of the crafts made by the ladies at Albion Lutheran Church. These items will be for sale at the Albion Bazaar on June 18, with a homemade lunch served at 12 p.m.

Runners and jumpers alike shine at State Track Meet

Four St. James Area track members traveled to St. Michael-Albertville HS on May 9-10 for the State Class A championships. Included in their efforts were trips to the finals and personal records, representing the red and black in strong fashion against the best in the state.

Andersen Earns Coaching Accolades in Nevada

Kory Andersen, a 2002 graduate of St. James High School, was recently named the Southern Region 5A Coach of the Year in Nevada as the head coach Liberty High School program. No stranger to high goals, Andersen has built the program up in a few years to be one of the best in the state.
