Robert Berndt

 Robert Berndt, 68, of St. James passed away at his home on Sunday, October 16, 2022, surrounded by his family.
 Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, October 22, 2022, at Spirit Hill Cemetery in Jordan.
 Visitation will be Friday at Sturm Funeral Home in St. James from 4-8 pm..

 Robert Raymond Berndt was born in Mountain Lake on April 25, 1954, the son of Raymond and Nancy (Boback) Berndt. Bob grew up in the South Branch township area and attended public school in St. James. He graduated from St. James High School in 1973. Bob owned and operated his own trucking business, Berndt Trucking, for almost 50 years. He did some farming on the side but mostly trucking. He loved to collect and restore old John Deere tractors as well as an occasional John Deere lawnmower. His love of John Deere tractors started at a very young age and only grew over time.
 Bob, and his family, loved going to garage sales and flea markets. He really enjoyed visiting the largest flea market in the world located in Texas.
 Bob married Sharon Shepard on September 27, 1980. They enjoyed all the traveling together to flea markets and garage sales. Sharon passed away in September 2021. Bob loved his family and spent all the time he could with the grandchildren and his great-grandchildren. They all were his pride and joy.
 Bob is survived by his daughters; Kellie (Doug) Mohrbacher of Jordan, Nancy (Dan) Sandberg of St. James; four grandchildren: Christina (Cody) Butler, Tyler (Taylor) Mohrbacher, Kimmy (Tyler) Zilverberg, Drake Surber; five great-grandchildren: Malakai and Callahan Butler, Hailee ‘Dolly’ Mohrbacher, Everleigh Mohrbacher and Adalynn Zilverberg; siblings: Karen (Brian) Sykes of Arkansas, Roger (Cindy) Berndt of St. James and Randall (Mary Alice) Berndt of Montana; nieces: Stacy Hander of Wells, Stephanie Berndt of Federal Way, Wash., Samantha Mackey of Waukee, Iowa; nephews: Alex Zender of Clements and Joe Zender of Oak Grove. He is preceded in death by his wife Sharon, parents, grandparents and his dog Sheba.
