Relay for Life will kickoff with a breakfast
Summer is almost here which means it is time for the Watonwan Relay for Life kick off. This year the kickoff will be a breakfast fundraiser at the St. James American Legion, on Sunday, May 7 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Saints Blaze Through Cardinals Despite Cool Temps
Although frigid weather limited most events on April 20th, St. James Area tennis racquets swung to the tune of a 7-0 victory at Redwood Valley High School. The #3 doubles team of Juan Cervantes and Rylan Meyer preserved the shutout with a nailbiter scores of 7-5, 7-6(6).

GERALDINE R. ROTERT
Geraldine R. Rotert, 74, of Shakopee passed away on Sunday, April 9, 2023, in Shakopee. Geri, as she was known, was born on October 2, 1948 in St. James, the daughter of Douglas and June (Curry) Engelking. She graduated from St. James High School in 1966. Geri worked a number of jobs including church secretary, time keeper, bookkeeper and proof operator. Most of her jobs were accounting related. Geri was married on September 27, 1969, to the love of her life, John Rotert. She started her family seven years later with the birth of her first son, Justin, followed by her second son, Travis, three years after. Geri had many passions in life. She was an amateur genealogist, a state champion bowler and a staple at many craft fairs, making everything from jewelry to clay figurines. Geraldine was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Rotert; and parents, Douglas and June. She is survived by her sons, Justin (Candace) Rotert, and Travis (Annie) Rotert; grandchildren, Jacob, Ava, Emma and Hudson, and Kyah; siblings, Gloria “Jeannie” Pew, Debbie Esping, Mike Engelking and Doug Engelking. Visitation was Sunday, April 16, 2023, from 3 - 5 p.m. at McNearney-Schmidt Funeral and Cremation, 1220 3rd Ave. East, Shakopee, 952-445-2755. Visitation was also Monday, April 17 from 9:30 - 11 a.m. at Mount Olive Evangelical Lutheran Church, 12700 Marystown Road, Shakopee, followed by Funeral Service at 11 a.m. Private family interment Catholic Cemetery, Shakopee.

Amos Eldon Forseth, 90, of rural St. James was born on October 9, 1932, to Ingeborg and Peter Forseth of the Godahl area.

Let the Games Begin!
Okay, so we have had a few games but too many have been pushed off or canceled. When athletic schedules are created coaches look for opportunities to be safe and successful.

Never know what things are like until its gone
End of last week was a crazy and eventful time at my house. First we were getting things cleaned up, mostly putting warrens toys away, to get ready for my family to come down. Well that had to wait because our basement flooded, yay what everyone wants when you have company coming in a few days.
