
Saints win over Arrows makes it 10 straight
Overturning a one-point halftime lead for Pipestone, St. James sealed the top end of a 10-game winning streak with the 66-53 win at Pipestone on February 7th. Reese Malmgren’s 18 points was tops for St. James Area as she made all six free throws attempts and both shots from three point land.
Balanced Saints offense defeats Clippers
The St. James Area boys basketball team finished off a home doubleheader sweep of Cleveland on February 6th. Wyatt Haler led a quartet of double-figure scorers that included Brennan Kern, John Boelke, and Danon Sawatzky.
Saints cut Clippers down to size
The St. James Area girls basketball team followed a 18-point, 22 rebound effort by Madelyn Malmgren to a 78-50 victory over Cleveland on February 6th. Jacey and Journey Swanson, along with Laila Romsdahl, all hit double figures and Malmgren broke the 1,000 rebound mark during the contest.
Saintettes complete season finale at Montevideo
The St. James Area danceline competed with ten other teams for state-qualifying spots at the Section 3A Meet in Montevideo on February 8th. The host school, along with Yellow Medicine East, and Lac qui Parle Valley/Dawson-Boyd grabbed the tickets to state, ending a successful season for the Saintettes.

Creative Touch Floral helps couples celebrating Valentine’s Day with flowers
Friday is February 14 also known as Valentine’s Day. Couples celebrate their love for one another, for some the day consists of dates and gifts. One such gift men give to their wife, fiancé or girlfriend is flowers. Creative Touch Floral in St. James is the center of flowers on Valentine’s Day in St. James.
St. James community comes together on plans as fear of deportation continues
President Donald Trump’s second term as president has cities across Minnesota and the country planning how to support people should a mass deportation happen. Adults and kids alike a terrified of what may happen each day, it has not waned since the start of Trump has taken office. In the city of St. James and the schools, there are a lot of adults and kids who deal with the concern and fear every day. Jon Wilson, a St. James High School government teacher said he talks about this with his students in his government class and kids are scared, literally scared to death of what is going to happen.
Celebrate the arts with “With a Song in My Heart”
The St. James Theater and Arts Board is presenting a celebration of the arts on Sunday, February 16 at the St. James High School Little Theater. The 3:00 p.m. program, “With a Song in My Heart”, includes dance, vocal, and instrumental music, an art show and dessert.

Saint Mary’s University announced the names of students who were named to the 2024 fall semester Dean’s List. The list included 413 students who earned a GPA of 3.60 or better. Two students from the St. James area were named to the Dean’s List, Abigail Jacobs of Madelia and McKenzie Lang of St. James.
