Saints Offense Turns Out the Lights Early at Madelia

The St. James Area basketball team proved ready to play in a 82-55 non-conference victory at Madelia on February 20th. Bennett Flohrs’ 17 points paced the winners with Wyatt Haler close behind at 16 points.

Sodeman’s Stellar Play Nets KEYC Honor

The St. James Area girls basketball’s season includes many highlights, amongst them is the KEYC Player of the Week honor for Taylor Sodeman. The Mankato television station recognizes an area player weekly, selected from schools and teams in the viewing area.

St. James Area Recognizes Kayl Johnson as Leader With ExCEL Award

Honored with the 2023 ExCEL Award for St. James High School, Kayl Johnson received her award during the Saintettes Extravaganza on January 28th. The award is reserved for juniors who demonstrate excellence and leadership both in and out of school.

Miest to State, Eight Saints Place at Section 2A Wrestling

A young Saints squad earned several high placings at the Section 2A Individual Tournament in Jackson on February 25th. An exciting second place finish by Levi Miest punched his ticket to the State Tournament on March 3rd with his session starting at 9:00 that morning at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.

Saints Score Decisive Win Over Mavericks on Senior Night

The St. James Saints girls basketball team honored seniors Taylor Sodeman and Lunden Swanson on February 20th, winning by a 7451 score over Martin County West. Sodeman, Journey Swanson, Jacey Swanson, and Madelyn Malmgren paced the victory by reaching double figures in points.

Third Time is Not Charmed as SJA Loses to Fairmont in Showcase

It was an early morning tipoff at the Big South Conference Showcase for the St. James Area Saints as they took on the Fairmont Cardinals once again, dropping a 66-47 decision. Alex Stresemann was the lone Saint to break double figure scoring.

Lengthy Trek to Edgerton Results in 70-53 Win For Saints

St. James ended their regular season with a 70-53 non-league contest at Edgerton on February 27th. The Dutchmen could not stop the flood of Saints scores in the opening half, down 38-18 at the intermission. Playoffs start at 7:00 p.m. March 3rd at Jackson County Central High School.

Saints Girls Power to Convincing 81-57 Playoff Victory at Home

A tight opening half gave way to dominance by SJA en route to a quarterfinal 2A Subsection playoff win over Windom on February 25th. Journey Swanson, Madelyn Malmgren, and Taylor Sodeman all scored 20 points to fuel a big second half surge.
