Ten lessons I’ve learned

A lot can happen in the span of 10 years. This is especially true for our family. In April 2012, we traveled from Union Grove, WI to St. James to interview at a small local church. Our family met with the search committee, my husband preached to the congregation, then we left for the church to pray, make a decision, and eventually vote my husband, Pastor Dave Ciske, in as the next pastor of Crossroads Church. Raymond Albert (Ray) Kleinow was called to his eternal home on April 29, 2022, at his home in Burnsville surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Funeral services were 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at East Sveadahl Lutheran Church, rural St.

Kenneth Lee Pankratz

Ken arrived on March 12, 1950, the first born of Carl and Marian (Stoesz) Pankratz. He was an inquisitive child and loved to read. His Grandpa Stoesz encouraged this thirst for knowledge by subscribing annually to National Geographic magazine, and supplemented his learning with the joy of reading, by supporting his other passion; reading Westerns! Ken was also an active participant in plays while in high school and an avid high school wrestling fan, well into his adult years.

Last week’s weather didn’t stop the St. James track team from continuing to compete and improve.

1972 State Champion Celebration set for July 16

On Saturday, July 16 the St. James Wrestling Hall of Fame will have its induction ceremony. Marvin Augustin, Phil McMullen, Chuck Bowers, Ethan Hildebrandt, Terry Hawes, Dustin Anderson, and the Urban Augustin Family will be inducted.

St. James area FFA excels at state

The Blue Corduroy Sea made its comeback this year at the University of Minnesota with the return of the Minnesota State FFA Convention. This year’s convention was the first that was held since the pandemic started and the St James Area FFA made a great showing.

St. James Saints boys Baseball drops to 2-2

Like most teams in the area, the Saint James baseball team has had their season altered by the weather. Wind, rain and cold have left the young ballplayers practicing inside a vast majority of the season.

Weather won’t hold back the Saints

St. James tennis is sitting at 4-3 for the season after splitting their matches the previous week. Their first match up of the week against New Ulm on Monday April, 25 was postponed because of weather left them with only their meets on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday to bring up their win column.
