International Women’s Day

March 8th is International Women’s Day. Don’t ask me how I know this. I just do. So let us speak of women, specifically the International Woman. I like her. Very much. In my opinion, She deserves much more than a day. But time waits for no man. Or woman, it seems. So… let’s get to it.

Super cheap smartphone plans for scrimping seniors

Dear Savvy Senior, Can you direct me to some really cheap wireless smartphone plans for seniors who don’t use much data? I use my smartphone primarily for texting and talking but need some data for checking my email and a few other things when I’m away from Wi-Fi. Right now, I pay $30 per month but am looking for a better deal.

Last edition with Gannett

The other small community papers editors and I are excited to announce that this week’s papers are the last ones we are doing with Gannett. Starting with the March 10 paper, the Plaindealer and all of the other papers that were bought by CherryRoad in December will be using the new design and layout.

St. James Cyclones bring home hardware from weekend duels

The St. James Cyclones sent 2 teams to the Waseca K-3 team duels this past weekend. This was a great achievement as this tournament had 20 teams participating, many from the metro area, and St. James was the only club to bring 2 teams. In addition to this both teams brought home some hardware. The St. James Cyclones 2 team participated in 4 dual meets falling to Wayzata 79-3, Owatonna 72-6, Zumbrota Mazeppa 66-14, & Pine Island 51-27. This team by far was one of the youngest in the tournament but the kids fought hard and gained great experience and brought home the Sportsmanship trophy for their actions & attitudes during the tournament. The St. James Cyclones 1 team participated in 6 duals and took home 2nd place overall out of the 20 teams participating. During pool play the Cyclones won duals against Faribault 66-15, Medford 78-6, New Prague 33-30, & Adrian 40-36. They then advanced to the championship bracket where they faced off against Saint Michael Albertville in the first round. This dual came down to the heavyweight match where Bryce Siem pinned his opponent sealing the win 41-40 for the Cyclones to advance to the championship match against Owatonna. The Cyclones would fall to Owatonna in the championship 47-27. JEFF BARRETT
