Freeman Hoppe, 83, of St. James passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on March 24, 2023, at Mayo Clinic Health Systems, St.

Community Survey results are in

St. James City Council held its meeting on Tuesday, March 21. The meeting started with a public hearing for the St. James City Charter, Joe McCabe addressed the council and those in attendance about the process the council used in addressing the target changes. McCabe said they reviewed the current charter, held to community meetings, they visited with the City Manager and City Clerk-Treasurer. Changes are made based on staff recommendations, and current procedures and policies. McCabe and the committee recommend the committee meets in five years and then again in 10 years.

New Saints Sports Were En Route During Spring of ‘66’

A winter season of contrast between sports eased phased into a mixed bag of activities for St. James High School student-athletes in 1966. Golf and Tennis were now part of sports offerings for the Saints student body.

Stresemann’s Hard Work on the Hardcourt Leads to BSC Award

All-Big South Conference selections were announced and Alex Stresemann will represent the St. James Area boys team, repeating as an All-BSC Honorable Mention. The senior lefthander spearheaded a late-season surge for the Saints.

Winning Season Paves Way for GBB Banquet Highlights

Winning a home playoff game and putting together the first winning record since 2006-2007 led to well-deserved awards at the 2023 Saints girls basketball banquet on March 28th. Seniors Taylor Sodeman and Lunden Swanson were honored for their leadership contributions.
